Charles practices in the areas of commercial litigation, suretyship and admiralty law. Building upon a background of maritime and commercial litigation, he actively practices in the commercial, surety and fidelity fields. His experience includes the representation of surety interests in a variety of contexts, including litigation on a regional basis involving public and private works act claims, fidelity claims, bankruptcy claims and actions, and actions for extra-contractual damages.
Charles’ bankruptcy court experience includes Chapter 11 litigation (including appellate practice), primarily on behalf of creditors or interested parties. Recent bankruptcy experience involved working with Matt J. Farley of the firm in defending a surety client against various claims related to a shipbuilding project impacted by the bankruptcy of the shipbuilder.
